Hot Millions

There was once a very rich man who lived a high life; Because of his lavish style they called him Chuck ‘Millions’. He had everyone obliged to him all except one, who was his neighbor, Fred ’Nobody’ was his tenant; and very poor too; but his pride was such that he developed a chip on his shoulder and every attempt on the part of the landlord to be civil an impossible task. It was inevitable that they parted company.
Fred went to Texas and bought some land that in those days was dirt-cheap. In no time he struck oil at a time the oil boom began in the USA. Fred’s billions brought him a status which found great many flocking to his doorstep. They all enjoyed his liberality that, to their surprise they found a carbon copy of Chuck Millions. “Even the Gobelin hanging in the salon is similar to what Chuck has got in his.” One guest was heard to observe. Another said: “They may hate each other but in tastes, - so a hand would fit the glove.”
How free are we really? We are prisoners to our past and it requires a concerted effort to be ourselves and live in the present.
