before the throne

When St. George came before the Throne of Judgment his fame had preceded before him. Poring over his deeds the Ancient Of the Days said: “You were a native of Cappadocia and supplied pork to the Roman Army. But you became a bishop. Why?”
“ Arian controversy.” St.George replied, ”The emperor thought I was useful to fight Orthodoxy.”
“So you did,”The Highest murmured,”reign of terror it says here.”Laying aside a long list of crimes entered against him the Lord God said,” Bishop Athanasius you know him, the one whom you marked for destruction is here.” St George wished he did not have to meet him.”Wherever he is, it is hell as far as I am concerned.” Next instant he found himself back on the earth. Well as you guessed it, he became transformed from a wretched bully into a saint.

The order of St. George did give him some satisfaction: he did not have to share it with Athanasius. Our concept of evil and good is like the way St.George equated hell with his enemy.
